Support for scientific and research projects

The SEMIKRON Foundation supports research projects and, in cooperation with the European Center for Power Electronics e.V. (ECPE) grants the SEMIKRON Innovation Award and the SEMIKRON Young Engineer Award.

The SEMIKRON Innovation Award recognises outstanding innovations in projects, products, services and novel concepts in the field of power electronics in Europe. The Foundation awards those innovations which provide potentially significant benefits to society such as an increase in energy efficiency, resource conservation, sustainability, and environmental protection.

In future, the awards will be presented annually at the power electronics fair, PCIM Europe, in Nuremberg. The award-winners are selected in cooperation with the European Center for Power Electronics (ECPE). The first prize is worth 10,000 euros. In addition, the Young Engineer Award, worth 3,000 euros, is also presented to young researchers under 30 years of age, working in the field of power electronics.  Other than this age limit, the same criteria apply to the Young Engineer Award as to the Innovation Award.

Award-winners are selected by an independent jury composed of five well-known representatives from the fields of research and industry. Both individuals and development teams may apply. In their applications, candidates should describe their innovations and substantiate the anticipated benefit to society.
